Homemade Seed Crackers

What’s crackalackin’?

Much like Ali’s love of chippies, I’ve got a love of crackers! And of all the tasty things you can dip them into! Hummus, dips, salsa, pesto - yum yum yum. Since switching to a more eco-conscious lifestyle though, my cracker intake has almost all but ceased entirely.

When Ali shared her recipe with me, I couldn’t wait to give it a fair crack (see what I did there) and woah, I’m blown away. Not only were they easy to make, but they were affordable and definitely passed the taste test!

Looks like I won’t be cracker-lacking again! ;)

They’re easy as to make, and can be customised and adjusted with your choice of seeds - pumpkin, chia, sesame, flax, sunflower! I reckon you could experiment with rosemary, salt, pepper, nutritional yeast, and customise these bad boys. Paired with package-free hummus from Damascus, they were a perfect Friday afternoon snack!

You’ll need:

1 cup of cornflour

1 cup seeds of your choice (I used pumpkin, chia, sunflower & sesame)

¼ cup of olive oil
1 cup of hot water

Steps:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 160 degrees

  2. Combine ingredients in a bowl and mix together until it forms a dough

  3. Break into two batches

  4. Roll them out between two sheets of baking paper

  5. Throw them in the oven for half an hour

  6. Enjoy!
